School for FUN????

If I stop learning and growing I feel like I am starting to die.

[insert hastily constructed analogy]

Life is like swimming on a slow moving river with a huge waterfall.  One of your main goals is to avoid going over the falls.  So, how to do that?

Swim.

It doesn't take much, the current is slow.

All you have to do is keep moving in the right direction.  Stop, and the current will carry you to your doom.

[end hastily constructed analogy]

I like going to school.  I enjoy learning new things.  I dread/love expanding my comfort zone and horizons.

When I first went to college, I was concerned with making a living.  Would I be able to support myself?  I felt the pressure and it showed.  Each test, each challenge presented me with a way to hopefully support myself.  Conversely, it also exposed the possibility of failure and therefore NOT being able to support myself.

Real or not, I felt pressure.

Now, years later, I decided to go to school again.  Not to pursue a degree.  Not to make a better living. Just to LEARN.

If I fail, it is no big deal.  I take the courses for FUN, for KNOWLEDGE.  The pressure is off.

And you know what?  I don't use my degree for my living.  But I am learning and growing and slowly moving away from that waterfall.  And really strange? My grades cannot get any better (MUCH different than before).
